The Solindo Story
In 2014, while standing before a group of aspiring young entrepreneurs in Canada, Georges Karam had a moment of profound clarity. He had been invited to host a boot camp at the prestigious École de l'Entrepreneurship de Beauce to share his knowledge on managing growth. The program, built for young entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs, was entirely voluntary, but the attendees paid to learn from those who had navigated the journey of success.
As Georges spent 24 hours immersed in their passion and curiosity, one question lingered long after the bootcamp ended: “What do you want to do now that will truly fulfill you?” He sold his business at 42 and realized he was experiencing a mid-life awakening. The pursuit of wealth had lost its luster; he craved a more profound sense of purpose. Inspired by the experience, he envisioned building a learning center in a developing country where people could grow professionally and personally while giving back.
Three years ago, Georges’ journey took him to Costa Rica, where he stayed in a stunning retreat in San Juanillo. The natural beauty of the region, its tranquility, and the energy it exuded began to work their magic. As he explored further, he stumbled upon Marbella, a hidden gem that captivated his heart. Soon after, he made an offer with a local Tica woman to purchase her land, laying the foundation for a dream that was years in the making.
What Georges envisioned was more than just a vacation spot—it was a place where people, particularly entrepreneurs, and families, could experience the balance between recharging their bodies and minds while still being productive. After a rejuvenating two-month stay where he experienced this balance firsthand, the vision of Solindo Stays was born. The challenge was great—building from scratch in the jungle in a new country where he didn’t speak the language—but the dream was clear: to create a destination where guests could unplug, reconnect with themselves, and give back.
